Welcome to the Prosperity Campaign The Prosperity Campaign is a community coalition of companies, agencies, government, educational, non-profit and other organizations who share the goal of increasing the prosperity of each of our citizens. United Way of Tampa Bay Inc. is proud to serve as lead agency for this important coalition. Our Mission The prosperity campaign is an organization of partners providing a regional umbrella for Pinellas and Hillsborough County’s to promote residents economic self sufficiency through strategies and activities determined most appropriate for each locale/county. Our Goals To ensure that those who are eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit claim their full, earned share To ensure all individuals have access to the financial education necessary to make wise informed decision To provide opportunities for all individuals to gain access to mainstream financial services. Background Established in 2004, the Prosperity Campaign had assisted citizens in preparing more than 31,500 tax returns with more than 5,400 Earned Income Tax Credits (EITC) claimed. This converts to more than $25.5 million dollars in total tax refunds of which close to $7 million dollars resulting from Earned Income Tax Credits. According to the Center for Economic Development Research at the University of South Florida the direct economic impact to the Tampa Bay area was $35.5 million dollars. Each year millions of dollars are left unclaimed yet EITC lifts more children out of poverty each year than any other government program. Because of this the partners of the Prosperity Campaign are committed to community outreach and public awareness efforts that get this information to as many citizens as possible. The next step is to provide these same citizens with opportunities to connect with financial education programs that will assist them in making the most optimal choices with this well earned money. Throughout Tampa Bay many organizations offer workshops/classes on things such as debt management, home ownership and basic money skills. The partners of the Prosperity Campaign work toward insuring that these courses are available and accessible to all who want to attend. Who are the partners? The Prosperity Campaign is a unique collaboration of public, private and non-profit partners. Local partners include: United Way of Tampa Bay, Hillsborough and Pinellas County governments, Internal Revenue Service, AARP, Allegany Franciscan Foundation, Children’s Board of Hillsborough County, Consumer Credit Counseling Services, Juvenile Welfare Board of Pinellas County, Hillsborough County Department of Health & Human Services, Hillsborough County Extension Services, Pinellas County Extension Services and Pinellas County Human Services. The Prosperity Campaign of Hillsborough & Pinellas Counties is a member of the Florida Prosperity Campaign.
