More than 700 United Way supporters waved blue and gold pom-poms and sang, "Take me out to the Kickoff" on August 23 as the Devil Rays mascot, Raymond, cheered everyone on inside Tropicana Field during the 2007 United Way Workplace Campaign Kickoff. Titled "Opening Day," it was a festive event sprinkled with baseball analogies, the collection of 101,256 thousand children’s books by volunteers donning white and red stripped Dr. Seuss hats and a rallying cry to support our community.
