Tax season is over, but read on to see if you qualify for next year.

Do you qualify for EITC?
Download this information

If you have 2 or more dependent

children

 and your earned household income

in 2006 is $38,348 or less if filing

"Married filing jointly"

$36,348 for all others 

 

 then you may be eligible to receive a

maximum EITC refund of $4,536

 

If you have 1 or more dependent

children

 

 and your earned household income

in 2006 is $34,001 or less if filing

"Married filing jointly"

$32,001 for all others 

 

 then you may be eligible to receive a

maximum EITC refund of $2,747

 

If you have no dependent
children

 and your earned household income

in 2006 is $14,120 or less if filing

"Married filing jointly"

$12,120 for all others 

 

 then you may be eligible to receive a

maximum EITC refund of $412

 

Additional Filing Requirements
The taxpayer must have earned income from employment or from self-employment
The taxpayer’s filing status cannot be married filing separately
The taxpayer must be a U.S. citizen or resident alien all year, or a nonresident alien married to a U.S. citizen or resident alien and filing a joint return
The taxpayer cannot be a qualifying child of another person
If the taxpayer does not have a qualifying child, he or she must
      - Be age 25 but under 65 at the end of the year,
      - Live in the United States for more than half of the tax year, and
      - Not qualify as a dependent of another person.
The taxpayer, his or her spouse (if filing jointly) and any qualifying child listed on Schedule EIC must have valid SSNs issued by the Social Security Administration.

What to bring when having your taxes prepared

Photo identification

Social security cards for you, your spouse and dependents

Birth dates for tax payer(s) and the dependents on the tax return

Current year’s tax package, if you received one

All wage and earning statement(s) Form W-2, W-2G, 1099-R, from all employers Interest and dividend statements from banks (Form 1099)

A copy of last year’s Federal return, if available

Bank routing numbers and account numbers for direct deposit

Other relevant information about income and expenses:

      - Total paid for day care

      - Day care provider’s identifying number

 

Note: To file taxes electronically on a married filing joint tax return, both spouses must be present to sign the required forms
