Tyrone R. has been a long-time client of PARC’s Adult Day training programs. The skills learned in the light manufacturing department at PARC lead to his interest in competitive employment. Through efforts of his United Way funded employment specialist, he obtained employment at West Pharmaceutical. Tyrone works 20 hours per week and earns $9.55 per hour, significantly above minimum wage. With assistance from his employment specialist, Tyrone learned to ride the city bus and budget for his bus pass. This has greatly increased his independence. Tyrone has found a mentor at West Pharmaceutical and has designed job modifications to insure his ongoing success.
