Volunteer at United Way of Tampa Bay's Volunteer network, Hands On Tampa Bay.
......................................................................................................

If you only have a few hours, Hands on Tampa Bay (HOT) is a perfect way to connect with your community. HOT gives those attempting to balance a busy lifestyle with their interest in volunteering a great way to get involved.
HOT offers a fun, flexible approach by scheduling short-term projects outside of normal business hours. Each month there are typically 50 to 60 volunteer projects scheduled in Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties so the opportunities are endless.
HOT's Corporate Services can also coordinate convenient on-site volunteer education and orientation and develop group projects for your company.

Josh Buono |
Josh Buono is not a native Floridian, but he sure thinks – and acts – like one. Give him a sunny blue sky and a truckload of tropical plants, and he is ready to dig in and get his hands dirty.
It is his love of landscaping and the great outdoors that first drew Josh to HandsOn Tampa Bay (HOT) this past January.

Laura Putnam’s email signature says it all.
At the bottom of every message this HandsOn Tampa Bay (HOT) volunteer sends is a quote from anthropologist Jane Goodall:
"What you do makes a difference and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make."

Javaughn Palmer |
In many ways, HandsOn Tampa Bay (HOT) volunteer Javaughn Palmer is a typical teen. A senior at King High School, he likes to go to the movies, hang out at the mall with friends, play basketball and talk on the phone. But take a peek at his usual weekend schedule, and you realize that Javaughn is not so typical after all.
Since joining HOT almost two years ago, Javaughn has regularly volunteered on Saturday morning projects every other week, averaging about two or three projects a month.

Kaytee Kachurak |
A HOT volunteer since 1998, Kaytee Kachurak can easily name her favorite projects when asked: Ronald McDonald House, SHARE, Shriners, Kid City, and “any special event at Lowry Park Zoo! I’ve never gone to the zoo just to go. It’s always been part of volunteering -- Zoo Boo, $5 Day, Wild Wonderland.” When Kaytee says these five projects are her favorites, she means it, because Kaytee volunteers for each of them at least once a month. In fact, on average, she volunteers for a total of seven projects every month.

Wayne, Rhett, Kendall and Rosemary
|
When it comes to their involvement with HandsOn Tampa Bay (HOT), Rosemary and Wayne Curtiss are accidental volunteers. They joined HOT two years ago with daughter Kendall and son Rhett, intending to help the children get started on meeting their community service requirements, then slowly backing away and letting the kids continue to volunteer on their own. However, after the first few projects, Rosemary discovered that they enjoyed volunteering together, and the family has been going strong ever since. | more

Miguel Tomasino
|
Miguel Tomasino is an adventurer. Yet no matter how far away Miguel travels, he always returns home to Tampa. The same can be said of Miguel's involvement with Hands On Tampa Bay (HOT). Miguel is one of the original HOT volunteers, having joined in its inaugural year back in 1995. In fact, Miguel was the very first person to be recognized as a HOT Volunteer of the Year, a distinction he earned back-to-back in 1995 and 1996. |more
